01 — Design challenge
Waldin’s first product outside its cot range: a chest of drawers with a changing unit, intended to stay in use after the baby years. Two problems defined the brief. A fixed changing height that does not suit the parent causes back strain and reduces attention while changing. And the changing unit had to be removable without leaving marks on the top.
02 — Solution
The changing unit has four height settings and a three-point mounting system along the long side of the chest. It can be raised as the child grows, or two units can be fitted side by side for twins. The drawer handles slide into milled grooves in the fronts, so they can be positioned at any height without drilling.
03 — Process
Brief: extend a cot-only brand with a storage piece in the same language of rounded forms and natural wood.

Research focused on problems reported by parents: back strain while changing, no space for two babies, tops damaged when accessories are removed, and drawers that small children can open.
The changing unit mounts and dismounts without leaving visible marks. Removing the handles also prevents small children from opening the drawers.
Without the changing unit, Infinity is a standard chest of drawers.
